The Ballad of the Flexible Bullet
Description Editor Henry Wilson is casually chatting to a small group of friends, and tells the story of when he received a story from author Reg Thorpe. Thorpe was having a hard time selling stories, and during the letters and conversations between them, Thorpe tells of his strange belief in Fornits. Fornits are magical creatures, one of which Thorpe believes lives in his typewriter. Thorpe did many things to protect his valuable Fornit, and his belief was strengthened when Wilson said he believed in Fornits as well. The Thorpe's housekeeper brought her son to work, and Thorpe discovered that the boy was trying to kill his Fornit, so in a fit of anger he took his gun and shot the boy before committing suicide.
