SKSM: Could you start with telling me a little bit about yourself? Who are you and what do you do?
Ruby Mandli: Hi, my name is Ruby Mandli. I am 9 years old, homeschooled and in the 4th grade. I love music and play the guitar and love to sing. I love animals! I have 2 dogs, 2 goats, 1 bunny and 1 cat. I have an older brother and sister. I am in gymnastics, love cooking, playing outside and hanging out with my friends and family.
SKSM: How did you become involved in The last rung on the ladder?
Ruby Mandli: My mom was scrolling on Facebook and saw a post looking for child actors for a film. I thought that sounded like a lot of fun and decided I would audition!
SKSM: When did you start acting and where did you train?
Ruby Mandli: My dad filmed a couple of Christmas videos for church and I got to be the main character along with my friend. I have not had any training. I just practice with my mom.
SKSM: Would you like to dedicate yourself to acting when you grow up?
Ruby Mandli: I don’t know, I thought about maybe being a vet?
SKSM: The barn scenes are very funny. Tell me a funny anecdote that happened to you in that special place.
Ruby Mandli: I was asking Jeff, “if I do this, can I get some popsicles?” He told me I was already becoming a Diva!
SKSM: What did you like most about your performance?
Ruby Mandli: I thought my screaming was really good!
SKSM: Do you wish you had played more in the film?
Ruby Mandli: Honestly, I thought that was just about right.
SKSM: What do you think of the film The last rung on the ladder now it’s finished?
Ruby Mandli: I think it was very well put together. I really liked it.
SKSM: You worked with Jeff Blankenship on this film, how was that?
Ruby Mandli: He is very funny! I really like spending those couple of days working with him.
SKSM: Do you still have any contact with the crew/cast from that time? If so with who?
Ruby Mandli: I got to see everyone at the premiere of The Last Rung of the Ladder. It was nice seeing everyone again!
SKSM: Who your favorite actors/actresses are?
Ruby Mandli: I like Adam Sandler, Jace Norman, from the show “Henry Danger” and Victoria Justice.
SKSM: What things do you like to do in your free time?
Ruby Mandli: I like to hang out with my animals, watch TV, do gymnastics, draw and play games.
SKSM: What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
Ruby Mandli: That I often sing solos at church and have done other music concerts and I also had a poem I wrote that was published in a book. One more thing, I’m Auntie Ruby to 3 kids!
SKSM: Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Is there anything you want to say to the fans that read this interview?
Ruby Mandli: When I was at the location where the filming was, it was very neat. The barns were beautiful and acting was fun! In between scenes, there was a lot of chatting and funny things going on plus lots of gummy worms!
SKSM: Do you like to add anything else?
Ruby Mandli: That’s it.
