Director’s Statement – Damien Maric

In the genesis of “The Woman in the Room”, a bright light emerged. This light took the benevolent form of Frank Darabont and his dedicated assistant, Denise Huth.

Their confidence in me and my project was the catalyst that allowed me to push the boundaries of my abilities, dream bigger and create without restraint.

Thanks to them, “The Woman in the Room” has become much more than just a dark, realistic story. It became a work imbued with the passion and determination of those who believed in it. Decades have passed since that transcendent experience, yet its influence still resonates deeply in all my subsequent projects. The trust that Frank Darabont and Denise Huth placed in me was the foundation on which I built my career. This unwavering support has been the source of immeasurable gratitude to them, as well as to the illustrious Stephen King, whose work has inspired my many projects.

Looking back today, I realize that “The Woman in the Room” (La Femme dans la Chambre) was much more than a film; it was a lesson in hope. It was an experience that not only pushed back the boundaries of what I thought possible, but also shaped the trajectory of my life.
