Jorge Calvo

He played in Albert Hamilton‘s Fletcher as Heinz.

SKSM: Could you start with telling me a little bit about yourself? Who are you and what do you do?

Jorge Calvo: My name is Jorge Calvo Dragosevic and I am a lawyer by profession.

SKSM: When did you know you wanted to become an actor?

Jorge Calvo: I didn’t study to be a professional actor, so I would say that I am a person who has always liked acting, and in particular film and theater.

SKSM: What else do you do besides acting?

Jorge Calvo: I work as a chief lawyer at the Health Department of Magallanes.

SKSM: How did you become involved in Fletcher Dollar Baby film?

Jorge Calvo: A little over a year ago I met Albert Hamilton and he offered me the role for the project. He was very happy to have obtained express authorization from Mr. King’s office. Obviously I told him I was interested and some time later a meeting was arranged with the rest of the team where we were given the script and the character to be played was defined.

SKSM: What do you think it is about the story that attracts people so much?

Jorge Calvo: The story is attractive because it involves different English and Spanish speaking characters, and all of them are very interesting and have their characteristics that seduce the viewer, so beyond the horror plot, it can captivate people from any part of the planet.

SKSM: Did you have to audition for the part or was it written directly for you?

Jorge Calvo: I didn’t have to audition. Albert had assigned us the role of each of the characters. In my case, it was Heinz, an ironic and sadistic guy who handles a device that makes anyone talk and can even cause death.

SKSM: You worked with Albert Hamilton on this film, how was that?

Jorge Calvo: It was a pleasure to work with him and his crew. He made everything easier despite the long hours, as a very positive atmosphere was created among the entire crew because everyone wanted our work to be of the best quality possible, so that this adaptation would leave this southern city on the world map in a very special place for the author and for the faithful public that follows his works.

SKSM: Was there any funny or special moment when you made the movie that you would like to tell me about?

Jorge Calvo: There are always many funny moments. All my takes were filmed in the Municipal Theater and sometimes there was noise, even the wind blowing outside prevented progress in the filming. Another notable moment was seeing our faces somewhat disfigured by the makeup, which generated a lot of laughter once the different scenes were finished.

SKSM: What are you working on nowadays?

Jorge Calvo: Regarding acting, I am invited to participate in Albert Hamilton‘s next feature film project, which is expected to begin pre-production at the end of this year 2024. Currently, I continue to develop my usual work as a lawyer in the public sector.

SKSM: Are you a fan of Stephen King’s work?

Jorge Calvo: Honestly, I hadn’t read much of his work, but I have memories of that great film based on his novel “The Shining“, with the great performance of Jack Nicholson.

SKSM: What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

Jorge Calvo: Many years ago I was a newsreader for a regional channel. I also participated in a chapter of a Chilean National Television program dedicated to the recreation of crimes called “Mea Culpa” and I had a role in a movie called “Gente Mala del Norte”, based on a crime that occurred in the 1920s in the city of Punta Arenas, Chile.

SKSM: Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Is there anything you want to say to the fans that read this interview?

Jorge Calvo: I hope you can see the trailer and the short film so that you can witness the quality work that Albert Hamilton did and that being at the end of the world does not prevent him from doing a very professional and high-level job.

SKSM: Do you like to add anything else?

Jorge Calvo: I just want to thank Albert for allowing me to be part of this short film that will surely make history. In fact, for me it is already historic just by the fact that an author of Stephen King’s calibre has given his permission to carry out this project and that it is entirely made at the end of the world, in this small country called Chile.
