Tia Phan
She is the Creative Consultant/ Makeup artist in Walter Perez‘s Into The Night Dollar Baby Film.
SKSM: May you introduce yourself to our readers?
Tia Phan: Hello, my name is Tia Phan. I am a traveling makeup artist and creative director. Ive had other jobs before such as sales for a multi billion dollar company, home health care, etc, but never found the love for it as I do for the beauty industry and behind the scene action. Being well rounded, I also am a licensed manicurist, esthetician, and certified spray tanner. I love working on projects that bring out the creativity and passion for my work, not only for myself, but for everyone around me.
SKSM: How did you become involved in ‘Into the Night’ Dollar Baby Film?
Tia Phan: My involvement in the film was thanks to a friend, Kat, who is the special fx artist and needed assistance. I then contacted Walter, the director, and showed him my portfolio and resume. After that, is all in the film.
SKSM: In this production, you worked as a creative consultant and a makeup artist. What was that like? Is this something you want to venture further into the industry?
Tia Phan: In a certain aspect, it can be challenging but everything worth working for isn’t easy. Thats why it’s such an accomplishment when its finished. I believe that every obstacle you overcome, there will be another waiting for you at the finish line but the whole point in bettering yourself and your work is to do things that aren’t in your comfort zone because then, you can see what your capable of and what you need to work on. It’s definitely the industry path I’d like to stay on.
SKSM: Can you tell us more about your work on the film?
Tia Phan: Besides doing makeup on the actors and actresses, I help Walter with giving input on scenes to see what we can do to make it better.
SKSM: What was it like to work with Walter Perez on this film?
Tia Phan: He’s an amazing person on and off the clock. He analyzes every detail for each scene and takes advice from the crew members. I find it very important to be in charge with an open ear. It makes creating something more fun.
SKSM: Was there any funny things that happened while filming (Blooperes, etc)?
Tia Phan: Oh definitely! When you work with people for a while, they become friends and/or family. There was a lot of goofing around on set, a good laugh always made the long days go by easier.
SKSM: Are you a fan of Stephen King’s work?
Tia Phan: I absolutely adore him and his work. His stories are always so intellectually twisted and it makes you wanting more. Your always on the edge wondering whats going to happen next!
SKSM: Thanks for taking your time to answer my questions. Is there something you’d like to tell our readers?
Tia Phan: Have fun. Its always good to be professional and prompt but a happy person gives happy work. You’ve worked hard to get where you are, own it!
