Bolen Miller
He is the Producer of Julia Marchese‘s I Know What You Need Dollar Baby film.
SKSM: May you introduce yourself to our readers?
Bolen Miller: Hello, my name is Bolen Miller, I am Producer and 1stAD of Julia Marchese‘s adaptation of Stephen King’s “I know What You Need”
SKSM: When did you know you wanted to become a producer?
Bolen Miller: I knew I wanted to be a producer in my teens. I’ve been obsessed with movies since I was a kid, and I have been learning the ins and outs of how they are built for just as long. I am also a writer/director and producing plays a very important role in getting any film project made. Producing also affords me the ability to pick projects that align with my own and then network with all the talented people involved in these projects, and eventually work with all of them. That’s one of the best parts about producing. Finding your people..
SKSM: How did you become involved in ‘I know what you need‘ Dollar Baby film?
Bolen Miller: After meeting Julia Marchese, I knew I just had to work with her on her Dollar Baby. She was professional and creative and she picked the best crew I have ever worked with, so she knows how to hire.
SKSM: Can you tell us about your work in the film?
Bolen Miller: I was a producer. During pre-production I helped out with casting, budget, scheduling, locations, and hiring. I was also 1stAD and handled catering, PA’s and I also Operated the Drone for the aerial shots in the movie.
SKSM: What was it like to work with Julia Marchese on this film?
Bolen Miller: Julia is great, she knows what she wants and can do just about every job on set. She is very organized and prepared. She hires well, she sticks to her vision and is great with actors.
SKSM: Was there any funny things that happened while filming (Bloopers, etc)?
Bolen Miller: Yes, Julia had a rule that if your phone goes off while on set, you have to dance for the cast and crew. So there were a couple of very funny breaks during shooting, and yes, it even happened to me!
SKSM: Are you a fan of Stephen King’s work?
Bolen Miller: Oh absolutely! I have been a fan of Stephen King since I was 10 years old. I was not allowed to watch scary content as a kid, but in my day no one cared what you were reading if you were a kid, they were just happy to see a kid reading. So I got a library card and started to check out all the Stephen King books, starting with It. I have been hooked, like so many others since.
SKSM: What are you working on nowadays?
Bolen Miller: I am currently in production on a feature length horror titled, DELILAH, it’s sort of a cross between 127 HOURS and THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. We are hopefully going to be done shooting by the end of the year.
SKSM: Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Something you’d like to tell our readers?
Bolen Miller: Keep reading Stephen King books, because lord knows he won’t stop writing them! Stephen King Rules!
