SKSM: Could you start with telling me a little bit about yourself? Who are you and what do you do?
Drew Macias: My name is Drew Macias I played the sheriff in Into The Night Dollar Baby Film directed by Walter Perez.
SKSM: When did you know you wanted to become an actor?
Drew Macias: Growing up I was always interested in performing for a crowd. Whether in front of my family and friends, talent shows or the school plays. I was always trying to entertain.
SKSM: How did you become involved in Into The Night Dollar Baby film?
Drew Macias: I got involved with the project after the director Walter posted on social media that he was in pre production for the movie. I sent him a message letting him know that I would love to audition for a part. And he actually got back to me and told me he had a part for me. It was the first role I’ve landed without having to audition.
SKSM: What do you think it is about the story that attracts people so much?
Drew Macias: Well I think Stephen King could write a cookie recipe and people would be interested in it. So obviously a story by him attracts people. There is such a slow burn to the story that takes you to the edge of your seat the whole time. I remember reading the script the first time and couldn’t put it down.
SKSM: Did you have to audition for the part or was it written directly for you?
Drew Macias: I did not have to audition but had worked with Walt before and he had seen another film I was in.
SKSM: You worked with Walter Perez on this film, how was that?
Drew Macias: Working with Walter was fantastic. He runs a real smooth and professional set. We chatted back and forth before we shot my part and he helped me find my character, so I felt very prepared on set.
SKSM: Was there any funny or special moment when they made the movie that you would like to tell me about?
Drew Macias: Not too funny, but one take I remember I had to lean over the whole time because my jacket was stuck on the edge of the bar. Even drinking was hard, because I couldn’t lean back.
SKSM: Do you still have any contact with the crew/cast from that time? If so with who?
Drew Macias: I keep in contact with the Director Walter. He is a great dude and talented so Im hoping to ride his coattails… hahaha. You know, they say you are who you hang out with so Walter will always be someone I keep in touch with.
SKSM: What are you working on nowadays?
Drew Macias: I actually just wrote my first short. So I’m looking to get that made soon. But I’m always working on honing my acting skills Ive filmed a few project since working on Into The Night.
SKSM: Are you a fan of Stephen King’s work?
Drew Macias: Growing up I was terrified by even just his name. But love his work. Im definitely drawn more to stories like Shawshank, Green Mile, Stand By Me. I guess that just goes to show his complete ability in storytelling.
SKSM: What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
Drew Macias: I’m actually relatively new to acting. I played 10 seasons of professional baseball, after college. I made it all the way to the big leagues with the San Diego Padres.
SKSM: Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Is there anything you want to say to the fans that read this interview?
Drew Macias: Thank so much for taking your time to read this. Making any movie, long or short is a true accomplishment that takes a village. It means a lot to the cast and crew that our work is being seen and talked about. Thanks again!
SKSM: Do you like to add anything else?
Drew Macias: One last note. This was my first mustache.
