Pamela Kalazich
She played in Albert Hamilton‘s Fletcher as Bride of Frankenstein.
SKSM: Could you start with telling me a little bit about yourself? Who are you and what do you do?
Pamela Kalazich: My name is Pamela Kalazich, I am 58 years old, and I have been doing theater since I was 18, self-taught, and I have been working in film since 1996 at the invitation of Albert Hamilton, for one of his first feature films, titled “Recuerdos Olvidados”
SKSM: When did you know you wanted to become an actress?
Pamela Kalazich: Since I was very young I was interested in the world of theater, and I ended up directing a version of “Jesus Christ Superstar” in Tierra del Fuego.
SKSM: What else do you do besides acting?
Pamela Kalazich: Writing scripts, producing audiovisual projects and putting on plays.
SKSM: How did you become involved in Fletcher Dollar Baby film?
Pamela Kalazich: I was lucky that Albert contacted me and mentioned that he was thinking of me for a role in this beautiful adaptation authorized by Mr. King.
SKSM: What do you think it is about the story that attracts people so much?
Pamela Kalazich: I think seeing the transformation of the protagonist Fletcher, how his sense of survival makes him go from being a calm man to the edge of violence and madness.
SKSM: Did you have to audition for the part or was it written directly for you?
Pamela Kalazich: Albert Hamilton told me about his Dollar Baby project and asked me to star in “Bride of Frankenstein,” which was almost heart-stopping, since I have always been behind the camera or backstage. It was a challenge for me to be in front of the camera. But I enjoyed it a lot.
SKSM: You worked with Albert Hamilton on this film, how was that?
Pamela Kalazich: It was a tremendous challenge, first because I had never acted for film, only directed theater and other things in the audiovisual world. Second, I don’t speak English at all and languages have never been easy for me, but I believe so much in Albert and his great expectations and the security he gave me that it was impossible to refuse. It was a tremendous experience and a success to dare and surpass myself.
SKSM: Was there any funny or special moment when they made the movie that you would like to tell me about?
Pamela Kalazich: There were many, like when I was very close to a shooting scene I felt a gunshot curl my hair. There I learned that I had to respect the safety rules of a shoot with blank shots and stay in safe places. (hahaha)
SKSM: What are you working on nowadays?
Pamela Kalazich: I’m returning to my theater company, and preparing some script projects.
SKSM: Are you a fan of Stephen King’s work?
Pamela Kalazich: Yes, for me the best thing is being able to let my imagination fly when describing every detail.
SKSM: What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
Pamela Kalazich: I am a house remodeler, and I also work on the Uber app. I consider myself multifaceted.
SKSM: Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Is there anything you want to say to the fans that read this interview?
Pamela Kalazich: We were all chosen for this project for a few different reasons, some of which were knowing Stephen King’s work, for our love of doing something special for ourselves and other people, and also for some skills to bring to our characters. Sincerely, thank you for reading this interview, I want you to know that we work with a lot of dedication and responsibility. We hope you like our adaptation.
SKSM: Do you like to add anything else?
Pamela Kalazich: It has been a pleasure to work with Albert, but this time it surpassed all my dreams. It was like jumping into the void without a parachute and thanks to him and the tremendous production team I felt that I managed to land on my feet. I think we are very ordinary people, but this project reminded us that each and every one of us has an incalculable value for our own reality, culture and society wherever we are. Thanks to Mr. King for his wonderful program that is coming to an end, but not our dreams and imagination, which will travel with him for all eternity. Thank you very much!
