Robert Axelrod
He played in Jack Sawyers‘ Dollar Baby Gotham Cafe as Eerie Man.
SKSM: Could you start with telling me a bit about yourself? Who are you and what do you do?
Robert Axelrod: I’m Robert Axelrod, actor, voice over artist, theatre critic, publicist, and all-around good person
SKSM: How did you become involved in Stephen King’s Gotham Cafe?
Robert Axelrod: I’ve been friends with Julie for a long time. We have worked together in the past. She’s the best. When she told me she was going to make a movie based on a Stephen King story I flipped. Wow. I knew she could do it! Julie asked me to be in the movie. Didn’t know exactly what I was going to do at first, but she kept her word.
SKSM: Did you have to audition for the part or was it written directly for you?
Robert Axelrod: The part was written for me. Julie created it based on a character that shows up in several King works.
SKSM:Do you still have any contact with the crew/cast from that time? If so with who?
Robert Axelrod: Just with Julie
SKSM: What did you do after Stephen King’s Gotham Cafe?
Robert Axelrod: Oh jeez, who remembers? I went home, took a shower, and relaxed.
SKSM: Stephen King did an audio cameo in this movie. It is the first time King ever did a cameo in a dollar baby. Did you meet King in person for this, or was the cameo recorded in another way?
Robert Axelrod: I didn’t meet him.
SKSM: Are you (or were you) a fan of Stephen King’s work?
Robert Axelrod: Yes, I’ve read several of his works including THE SHINING and THE STAND.
SKSM: Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Is there anything else you want to say to the fans that read this interview?
Robert Axelrod: Enjoy the movie! See it two or three time because things move fast!
